Ha! I played an awful teenage boy in a mafia game once, so much fun.

Still, in general it shouldn't be as hard for Astra as it is in our world, what with both the military and quasi-medieval culture; she looks younger than her actual age, but at the same time, people will be assumed to mature faster mentally, get married in her stratum of society at even younger ages than she's pretending to be, etc.  If anything, it's her competence in a fight I think would be quite widely questioned, since she's 5'4 and 120lbs lol (and wearing 45lb armour, eesh).  Which is informing how I'm playing her and her reactions in the current situation!

My daughter is 5'7" and weighs 140 lbs.  I couldn't imagine her standing upright wearing 45 lbs of armor, let alone fight.

It sounds like more than it really is, I think; pretty sure it's about the same as the standard pack weight for modern soldiers?  And it'll be much better distributed than a pack, since it's being worn and she's proficient in scale.

If you're wearing it basically everyday, I don't think it'd be unreasonable - people who are 5'4'' and 165 lbs get around fine, for example.  Granted that's your own body, but still.

The nerd preadolescents who play D&D in my study hall have supplied some suggestions at how to suck less at running skill challenges, lol.  This random twelve-year-old is a beast of a DM.

raven, FYI, pretty much whatever you choose to do next, I'm going to railroad you into a skill challenge so I can practice this :D

What is a skill challenge?

eta from here: http://dungeonsmaster.com/skill-challenges/

It's a situation where I'd have to every skill my character has to get through it?

Not necessarily all, but yeah, you use skill checks to (if successful!) proceed toward a goal - in your case, to find the party.

So either Oblivion will have a hard time as her checks would be opposed Pepper's attempt to cover the group's tracks, or easy because all she has to do is listen for Astra whining, "Are we there yet?"

Okay, so borealis just let me know that she's going to need to drop out of the game, at least for now.  I'm going to write Leatherleaf out.   I am not killing the character, but she's about to go *poof*.

b, you're very very welcome to rejoin when you've got more internet nerd time!

So, that was a little artless.  I never know how to handle these things.   I tried to turn this twist to an opportunity to provide a little extra info and setup, at least.

I thought through the behind-the-scenes mechanism behind how the sending was arranged.  It's a little convoluted, but it works.  You'll PROBABLY find out (or figure it out) eventually.

Frowny face, b, but I look forward to you rejoining us when you can.

I though that worked rather well Teshi.

Sorry, I fell asleep at my laptop last night, and this morning I got slammed with work.  I promise I'll get to this today, though!

Memorial Day weekend!

I am running a one-shot for the kids this weekend.  If it works out well I'll keep it in pocket for a possible game here.
