Hah! I fixed it, or at least in one place.

Aw. You didnt have to fix it. This version of Palitinate is turning out to be a bit more boyish than the others.

You could just shapeshift whenever it suits you.

Incidentally, b, since you're an archer we need to talk about opportunity attacks - if you make a ranged attack while you're next to an enemy, they get a free attack against you, so you'll need to keep your distance.  They also get to do so if you're next to them and leave the square by walking; if you want to back up, you need to shift, which moves you one square and uses your entire move action.

So is anyone running the tables on how much XP we get by grinding through those skeletons versus the likelyhood we get swarmed?  Because if this were WOW I am pretty sure we would be pitching in right now.

Were. Were people.

So b is making my character genderqueer and I am OK with that.
:)

For our reference:
Soldier Astra's immediate superior is Corporal Valenae, a sir
Valenae's immediate superior is Sergeant Palitinate, once a ma'am but possibly not any longer
Antigone's immediate superior is Captain Olegov, a sir
Oleg's immediate superior is Major Leatherleaf, a ma'am

Lieutenant Zecklin is a ma'am, General ir'Dulinch is a sir or potentially a m'lord

Also, wouldn't somebody like to ask Astra her name? :sadcheer:

So back up = shift one square - is that far enough to make a ranged attack?

And maybe I need another weapon?

Yep, it's far enough.  You can take a non-magical melee weapon as well, yes, certainly doesn't hurt, but your only relevant power is the melee basic attack, and it (usually) takes two minor actions to sheathe one weapon and draw another.  Unless we're in very close quarters and you simply can't get even that small amount of distance to make your ranged attacks, you'll be better off with your bow.

eta: you can have astra's mundane longsword when she gets her magic khopesh if you want!

Were. Were people.

This campaign forces us to ask ourselves, what is personhood?  What does it mean to be a person?

I propose that one defining element is the ability and desire to play poker.

Mr. b might agree.

I may have to become a mere elemental force.

Oh gods.  We're going to form an All Undead Lives Matter union in this game, aren't we.

So, if no one objects, I'm going to do away with XP for this game.  Instead, you may level up every 5 major combat encounters or skill challenges.  I reserve the right to give a half-credit for minor encounters or challenges, or give bonus credit for really epic actions.

XP has just always felt really persnickety to me.

Yea?  Nay? Suggestions for modifications to this plan? Several of you are more experienced at DMing.

OH LOOK GUESS YOU WOULD HAVE MURDERED TEN THOUSAND SKELETON-PEOPLE FOR NOTHING.

I'm enjoying the image of the skeletons occasionally trying to trick the soldiers by climbing up and knocking.

I do not do XP in games anymore. So I agree with your proposal Teshi.
