"You a gambler Ma'am?" I ask, wondering how a ghost holds cards.

"We all are, apparently", I reply. "Else we wouldn't be here doing...whatever it is we're doing. I wasn't really listening."

I look at her [Insight: 14 + 5 = 19] trying to determine if she's lying.

"Really Ma'am, I thought you were part of our briefing. And Ma'am, if I may be so bold, do you hold rank in the Army?"

"Your army? No. I was in an army. I think. Long time ago. There were definitely people shouting orders, anyway. I didn't much care for that."

[No sign of deception.]

I look at her with interest.

"How old are you Ma'am? What country are you from?"

"About as old as I look," I reply. "And I probably always will be. I'm from Adar originally. Speaking of which, what country is this, anyway?"

The rumbling to the right of you increases in response to your voices.

I drift over to the door and quickly poke my head through to see what's happening on the other side.

[Perception: 16 + 7 = 23]

[Since I have Threat Sense, I'd like to roll a Perception check to gauge the level of threat or danger we are now facing and get maybe some more information on the nature of that rumbling.  Perception: 1d20+13: 20*+13 = 33.  *honest and true, well I'll be damned.]

"Maybe we should go, ma'am," I hiss to the sergeant, having given up on getting Corporal Valenae to see sense by this point.

[I'm not familiar with it and I'm phone posting - can one of you c&p the description of the feature (or power or whatever?) for me?]

I nod in agreement without turning to look at Latrine Duty.

"Let's keep moving people.."

I invade the Corporal's personal space to motivate him, "Let's go soldier."

"And cut the chatter."

[Rules as written it allows me to substitute an Initiative Roll with a Perception Check and grant allies +2 to initiative.  By extension I figure it may give Palitinate a 6th sense (she does indeed see dead people righ now) towards what I am asking for.  GM's discretion of course,]

Inside, your face nearly continues phasing through the door and into a skeleton.  You see a chamber, like a large closet or small room, packed full of skeleton soldiers, standing like brooms and mops and rakes stored away in a shed.  Except that they're moving, feet shuffling on the floor, bones dully clinking against other skeletons' bones as they sway and step.

You can't help but wonder why these ones are packed away here while the rest are at greater liberty - if it can be said to be liberty - in the cavern?

[So does this mean you just rolled initiative against the skeletons? :D ]

[There will now be a brief interlude while Teshi rolls 10,000 initiative checks.]

"Yes ma'am," I agree, and march smartly for the way out, quite happy to leave the ghost in the door for the rest of time.

[Hee.  I'll just take it as a Very Good Perception Check with an eye to danger.

The skeletons in the cavern feel to you to be an overwhelming force.  Dangerous, yes, lethal, yes, able to wash over a group of mortals like a wave of death, yes.  But they have less than zero interest in you.  They don't even seem aware of you, at least not right now.

The cards players, now, they're more interesting.  They seem at ease, but they also seem to have a lot more personal destructive potential per skeleton, and they know you're there.

The noise from the closet, on the other hand, sounds downright sinister to you, although you can't put your finger on why.  It's giving you goosebumps.

[Are they armed? Armoured?]

Yup and yup.  Pretty well armed and armored.  Variety of weapons, from what you can see - hard to work out the details, as they're all clumped up as they are, but you see swords and spears for sure.

I pull back from the door and rejoin the group. "More skeletons", I inform the others. "They don't seem too agitated, though."

In response to this sound, the closet skeletons thump more vigorously.  You can fairly feel the door shake at this point.

"With you, Sergeant. Hasty exit it is." Privately I'm wondering what the deep smouldering hells the General was thinking when he sent us this way, not to mention why such a menacing collection of bones was kept here in the first place. It briefly crosses my mind that the mission was an elaborate ruse to entice the ghost to her death somehow.
