Well I figure diplomacy first intimidate later. So roll a D20 is there any modification to the die amount, -2s or +1s or anything?

Just a d20 plus your Diplomacy bonus, which is +12.

My pdf says 10, I'll have to remember the change to 12.

That is likely the only 20 I will roll this whole game so it better be useful.

Beast Empathy:  +2 to Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate and Insight checks against beasts.  Successful Insight check allows you to understand basic messages from beasts.

So ... I suppose that is along the lines of Dr. Doolittle in the original version but not quite as fluent.
